Privacy Policy
Effective 25 March 2026
The short version: Subbie doesn't track you, doesn't sell your data, and doesn't use third-party analytics. Your team data syncs privately via Apple's iCloud and stays under your control.
Who we are
Subbie is built in Perth, Western Australia. When we say "we", "us", or "our" in this policy, we mean the team behind Subbie. When we say "Subbie" or "the app", we mean the Subbie iOS application.
What data Subbie stores
All data you enter into Subbie is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:
- Player names and squad details
- Match records, scores, and substitution history
- Formations and team settings
- Season statistics
We do not have access to this data. It lives on your iPhone and, if you choose to use team sharing, in your private iCloud account.
Team sharing via iCloud
When a coach shares their team with parents using an invite code, Subbie uses Apple CloudKit to sync team data between devices. This means:
- Data is stored in Apple's iCloud infrastructure, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
- Each team's data is kept in a private CloudKit zone — only people with the invite code can access it
- Coaches control what is shared; parents receive a read-only view of team and match data
- Parents can write availability responses (RSVP) and carpool offers back to the coach
- The coach can revoke any parent's access at any time
We cannot read, access, or mine any data stored in your iCloud. Apple acts as the data processor; you remain the data controller.
What we don't do
- No accounts: Subbie doesn't require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in with a third-party service.
- No tracking: We don't use analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, or fingerprinting of any kind.
- No third-party services: The app communicates only with Apple's iCloud servers. No data is sent to us or to any other third party.
- No selling or sharing: We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with anyone.
Children's privacy
Subbie is designed for coaches and parents managing junior sports teams. The app stores player names entered by the coach or parent — it does not collect data directly from children and does not require children to use the app.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child's information has been entered inappropriately, the team coach can delete it directly within the app.
Data retention and deletion
Because all data is stored on your device and in your iCloud account:
- Delete the app and all local data is removed
- iCloud data can be managed through your device's Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > Manage Storage
- Coaches can archive or delete teams within the app, which removes all associated player, match, and formation data
Permissions
Subbie may request these device permissions:
- Notifications — For match reminders and live activity updates. You can disable this in Settings at any time.
- Camera / Photo Library — Only if you choose to add player photos or match day photos. These are stored locally and in your iCloud if team sharing is active.
Subbie does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, health data, or any other sensitive permissions.
Changes to this policy
If we update this privacy policy, we'll post the revised version here with a new effective date. For significant changes, we'll also include a notice in the app.
